The September Skin Reset with Cellcosmet’s Ultra Sensitive

Cellcosmet’s newest product Ultra Sensitive offers a restorative approach to hydration and barrier health

by Angela Gorman
in Beauty, Lifestyle

In conversation with Cellcosmet on their latest product, Ultra Sensitive Soothing Barrier Cream.

Summer has a way of making skin appear effortlessly healthy. A little sun, a bronzed glow and days spent near the water can create the impression that less skincare is required. By late August, however, the season can begin to leave its mark.

Weeks of heat, humidity, sun exposure, salt water, chlorine, travel and air conditioning can gradually disrupt the skin’s delicate balance. Everyday factors such as stress, lack of sleep, pollution and prolonged screen exposure may add another layer of strain. Add exfoliating acids, retinoids and the tendency to cleanse more frequently in warm weather and skin may suddenly feel tight, dry or unusually reactive.

We spoke with Jennifer Hessel, General Manager of North America at Cellcosmet, to discuss how months of seasonal exposure can affect the complexion and why skin-barrier recovery has become such an important topic within the beauty landscape. As we look toward fall, we’re approaching a natural moment for recovery. Much like restoring moisture to sun-exposed hair, the skin can benefit from a period of replenishment focused on hydration and barrier support, including Cellcosmet’s newest product launch, Ultra Sensitive Soothing Barrier Cream.

Cellcosmet Ultra SensitiveCellcosmet, a science-first skincare company, has conducted considerable research into the skin barrier, the outermost layer responsible for retaining moisture and helping protect the complexion from environmental stressors. When functioning well, it supports skin that appears smooth, hydrated and resilient. When weakened, moisture can escape more easily, leaving the complexion vulnerable to dryness, redness, irritation and sensitivity.

A compromised barrier may present as makeup suddenly settling into dry areas, products that once felt comfortable beginning to sting, persistent tightness after cleansing or redness that seems to linger. Even skin that is typically oily can experience dehydration and barrier disruption.

These concerns have helped move barrier care beyond the sensitive-skin category. Increasingly, it is becoming a foundational part of modern beauty routines, particularly as consumers combine sophisticated at-home regimens with professional treatments such as lasers, peels and microneedling.

Launching September 1, 2026  Cellcosmet’s Ultra Sensitive Soothing Barrier Cream is a lightweight, fragrance-free formula developed to strengthen, protect and restore compromised skin. Designed to support the skin barrier’s natural defenses, it helps improve moisture retention, calm visible irritation and promote longer-term resilience.

Cellcosmet Ultra Sensitive

Rather than concentrating on a single source of sensitivity, Ultra Sensitive takes a multilayered approach. The formula is designed to support the skin’s biological defense through microbiome care, its physical defense by improving barrier function and moisture retention, and its chemical defense by helping protect against environmental aggressors and oxidative stress.

Nine active ingredients work together within the formula. Ceramides and green microalgae peptides help support barrier repair, while hyaluronic acid and fig fruit extract provide hydration. Allantoin and immortelle help calm visible irritation, and vitamin E offers antioxidant support. The cream also incorporates Cellcosmet’s CytoPep™ Cellular Extracts as part of its cellular revitalization approach.

This combination makes the product particularly relevant at the end of summer, when skin may be contending with several forms of stress at once. A complexion can be dehydrated from sun and travel while also appearing congested, inflamed or reactive from heavier sunscreen use and frequent cleansing.

Recovery can begin by simplifying the routine and temporarily placing greater emphasis on gentle cleansing, consistent moisturization and daily sun protection. Exfoliants and retinoids can be adjusted according to the skin’s tolerance, especially when tightness, burning or persistent redness is present.

Cellcosmet Ultra Sensitive

Ultra Sensitive is also designed to protect skin against everyday aggressors such as pollution, stress and blue-light exposure. Its soothing, hydrating and barrier-supporting properties make it particularly relevant following aesthetic procedures such as lasers, peels and microneedling, when skin may be temporarily more reactive and in need of additional support.

Formulated without perfume or harsh active ingredients it can be applied to the face, neck and décolleté morning and evening, with additional applications throughout the day according to individual needs.

Clinical testing conducted over 28 days found an 11.2 percent increase in hydration and a 17.1 percent reduction in transepidermal water loss, an indicator of improved barrier function. Participants also demonstrated improvements in elasticity and firmness, along with reductions in redness and markers associated with inflammation.

The immediate experience is equally important for those whose skin feels uncomfortable. After the first application, all participants reported that sensations of discomfort were soothed and that the skin felt moisturized. After 28 days, 97 percent reported reduced sensations of inflammation and irritation, while the same percentage reported reduced redness and restored suppleness and elasticity.

Consumers are becoming more selective about the number of products they use and more aware of how environmental exposure, stress, sleep and aesthetic procedures can affect the complexion. Barrier care fits naturally into this more considered philosophy. It offers a way to support the skin between treatments, through seasonal transitions and during periods when a once-reliable routine begins to feel like too much.

As summer draws to a close, the most effective beauty reset may be a restorative one. With the arrival of Ultra Sensitive, Cellcosmet is positioning barrier strength and microbiome balance as the foundation for skin that looks nourished and prepared for the season ahead.

Cellcosmet Ultra Sensitive Soothing Barrier Cream launches September 1, 2026, for $265. It will be available through Cellcosmet.com, Saks, Neiman Marcus, Nordstrom, Amazon Luxury and Holt Renfrew.
