Marina St Barth Celebrates 20 Years of Resort Wear Chic with New Southampton Boutique

Twenty Summers On, Marina St Barth Plants Its Flag in Southampton

Over Memorial Day weekend, the resort wear house founded by Marina Cocher Bergés opened its Jobs Lane boutique and marked two decades of bringing Saint Barthélemy’s particular ease to American resort towns.

Memorial Day weekend is when the Hamptons stops rehearsing and begins. The traffic thickens on Montauk Highway, the shops on Jobs Lane switch to full hours, and an entire seasonal economy comes back to life over the course of about seventy-two hours. Into that opening weekend, Marina St Barth unlocked the doors of its new Southampton boutique at number 54, timing an anniversary celebration to coincide with the moment the East End rediscovers its appetite for resort wear.

The occasion carried double weight. The evening marked both the boutique’s debut and twenty years since Marina Cocher Bergés founded the brand, which has built its identity around effortless elegance, colorful sophistication and the relaxed glamour of island living. Guests moved through a curated collection of resort wear, accessories and statement pieces made for travel, entertaining, coastal living and the general business of being somewhere warm.

Twenty years is a long run for a brand born from a personal impulse rather than a market study, and Cocher framed the milestone in those terms. “This anniversary is deeply personal for me,” she said. “Marina St Barth was born from a moment that reminded me how precious life is, and from a desire to create something joyful and beautiful. For twenty years we have welcomed women looking for pieces that feel effortless, yet distinctive, fashion that carries the spirit of the islands, the freedom of travel, and the quiet confidence of true style.”

That origin still shapes the merchandising. Rather than tracking trends, the house works in pieces built to last across seasons, distinguished by vibrant color, rich texture and a genuinely international point of view. The result is clothing with a specific job description: it must survive a flight, look correct at a seaside dinner and require almost no thought in the morning. Women who move between luxury resort communities several times a year have a wardrobe problem that most fashion does not solve, and this is a house that has spent two decades solving it.

The Southampton space reflects that sensibility, blending bohemian ease with casual glamour and a disciplined sense of resort style. Browsing it feels less like shopping a collection than being handed a season. The location itself is a logical extension of the brand’s map, joining boutiques in Palm Beach and Naples alongside a growing online business, and placing it among the affluent residents, seasonal homeowners and international visitors who define the East End summer.

The opening drew guests from fashion, philanthropy, business and society, among them Otto Bergés, Antonella Bertello, Jean Shafiroff, Nicole Noonan, Steve Knobel, Donna Rubin, Maribel Lieberman, Mark Seidenfeld and Eunyoung Song. The room had the character of a group marking a shared history rather than attending an opening, which is what happens when a brand grows slowly enough to keep its early supporters.

As the house enters its third decade, the proposition remains what it was: refined resort wear that balances comfort with elegance and leaves room for individuality. There is a version of island dressing that treats the tropics as costume, all print and performance. Marina St Barth has spent twenty years arguing the opposite, that Saint Barthélemy offers a posture rather than a pattern, and that looking unstudied is the hardest thing to design. On Jobs Lane in late May, with the season just opening around it, the argument needs no defense.
