Marina St Barth Celebrates 20 Years of Resort Wear Chic at New Southampton Boutique

Twenty Years of Island Elegance Find a Home on Jobs Lane

Marina St Barth opened its Southampton boutique over Memorial Day weekend, marking both the start of the Hamptons season and two decades of founder Marina Cocher Bergés bringing Saint Barthélemy’s relaxed glamour to American resort towns.

Memorial Day weekend in Southampton has its own choreography: the first proper crowds on Jobs Lane, the shift from spring hesitancy to full summer commitment, the sense that the season has finally been permitted to begin. Into that moment, Marina St Barth opened its doors at number 54, and the timing read as intentional. A resort wear brand arriving at the exact hour the East End puts away its winter wardrobe understands its own calendar.

The Southampton boutique is the newest expression of a brand founded twenty years ago by Marina Cocher Bergés, and the opening served double duty as anniversary and inauguration. Jobs Lane is one of the East End’s most established shopping addresses, and Marina St Barth arrives with a proposition suited to it: island elegance filtered through casual glamour, with a bohemian looseness that keeps the whole thing from becoming precious. Guests moved through a curated world of resort wear, accessories and statement pieces built for sun-drenched afternoons, coastal evenings, travel and the kind of entertaining that happens on short notice.

Twenty years is long enough for a brand to become a category, and Marina St Barth has done that quietly. What began as a deeply personal vision now spans boutiques in Palm Beach, Naples and Southampton alongside an online presence, serving women who move between resort communities as a matter of routine rather than occasion. The through line is Saint Barthélemy itself, or more precisely the island’s particular register of ease, which insists on being unstudied while remaining entirely deliberate.

Cocher spoke about the milestone in terms that were more personal than commercial. “This anniversary is deeply personal for me,” she said. “Marina St Barth was born from a moment that reminded me how precious life is, and from a desire to create something joyful and beautiful. For twenty years, we have welcomed women looking for pieces that feel effortless, yet distinctive. Fashion that carries the spirit of the islands, the freedom of travel, and the quiet confidence of true style.”

That framing shaped the tenor of the evening, which celebrated an evolution rather than a launch: a brand built over two decades from travel, resilience and a refined instinct for escape.

The merchandising reflects the same instinct. Marina St Barth carries resort wear from global designers alongside pieces from its own label, curated toward relaxed sophistication and quiet luxury rather than trend. The result is a wardrobe with mobility built into it, one that moves from a beachside afternoon to an evening gathering without a costume change, distinguished by color, texture and a genuinely international point of view. In Southampton, where the summer calendar runs on destination shopping and weekends by the water, that logic requires no translation.

The gathering drew friends of the brand and style-minded guests, among them Otto Bergés, Antonella Bertello, Jean Shafiroff, Nicole Noonan, Steve Knobel, Donna Rubin, Maribel Lieberman, Mark Seidenfeld and Eunyoung Song. The room had the warmth of a group marking something they had watched develop rather than something newly discovered.

There is a version of resort wear that treats the tropics as costume. Marina St Barth has spent twenty years arguing for the opposite, that the islands offer a posture rather than a print, and that the confidence to dress simply is the most difficult thing to sell. On Jobs Lane, with the season opening around it, the argument makes itself.
