The Rio Grande Valley is one of the fastest-growing regions in Texas, and more residents on Expressway 83, the 10th Street corridor, and the border-crossing routes means more collisions. When a crash leaves you with injuries and an insurer in no hurry to pay, the attorney you pick matters. Below, each firm gets the same quick treatment — the short version of what it offers, and the caveat you should weigh — so you can compare them on the same terms. Every firm listed works on contingency: nothing owed unless they recover for you.
The Firms, in Brief

The caveat: a smaller team than firms with dozens of attorneys across many offices.

Omar Ochoa Law Firm — omarochoalaw.com · 4.8 (343) The short version: founded 2018 by Edinburg native Omar Ochoa; $1B+ recovered across all areas; UT Law graduate and Law Review editor-in-chief with federal clerkships; handles insurance bad-faith claims; calls itself “not a settlement mill.” The caveat: founded 2018 — newer than several competitors with decades of history.
De La Garza Law Firm — dlgarzalaw.com · 4.9 (258) The short version: founded 2012 by Rafael De La Garza; a small firm that caps its caseload so the founding attorney handles each case personally; $31.5M recovered in three years; also handles funeral-home negligence. Almaraz Law Firm — almarazlaw.com · 4.9 (155) The short version: founded 2006 by Rosendo Almaraz Jr. (former Hidalgo County ADA); $500M+ recovered, $100M in 2025; catastrophic focus, with Astroworld and Robb Elementary representation. Ryan Solis Law Group — rsolislaw.com · 4.9 (92) The short version: solo-practitioner model — every client works directly with Ryan Solis (19+ years); BBB A+; reviews praise responsiveness and medical coordination by staff member Ivonne. Contingency Fees: What to Confirm Before You Sign
What does “contingency” actually cost me? No upfront attorney fee. The firm takes an agreed percentage of the recovery only if it wins. The industry norm is around a third.
Does the percentage change if my case goes to trial? Often, yes. Ask each firm what the fee is at settlement versus after a lawsuit is filed.
Who pays case costs — filing fees, expert witnesses, medical records? Usually the firm advances them and deducts them from your share. Ask whether costs come out before or after the attorney’s percentage, since that changes your net.
If I switch firms or lose, do I owe anything? Get the answer in writing. Most firms charge no fee on a loss, but cost handling varies.
Gather your crash report, medical bills, insurance correspondence, and any scene photos, then take free consultations with two or three firms. Texas gives you two years from the crash to file — but memories fade and evidence disappears, so an early conversation protects more of your case.
