Miami Beach did what it does best this May. From the 28th to the 31st, South Beach transformed into the global center of resort fashion as PARAISO Miami Swim Week returned for its 22nd edition. Anchored by the Paraiso tent in Collins Park, steps from the Atlantic, the event blended fashion, music, and nightlife into one sun-drenched spectacle, drawing buyers, press, and industry insiders from more than 60 countries. This year’s edition felt particularly energized, with a packed roster of established names and emerging talent setting the tone for resort dressing in the season ahead. Here are the trends that defined the runways. .

Crochet and Artisanal Texture

Handcraft took center stage this season with real conviction. Crochet bikinis, textured knits, ruched fabrics, and artisanal details brought a bohemian energy to the runways while reinforcing a growing appreciation for craftsmanship and tactile design. The result was a category of resortwear that felt unhurried and considered, balancing relaxed vacation dressing with genuine runway sophistication. Designers worked across a tonal range, favoring natural creams and sun-bleached whites, with cover-ups and coordinated sets adding dimension and depth to the artisanal aesthetic. The message was clear: elevated craftsmanship is no longer a niche concern but a defining pillar of contemporary swimwear.

Sheer and Semi-Sheer Resortwear

Transparency emerged as one of the most directional stories across the week’s collections. Designers embraced sheer textures to create lightweight and sophisticated resortwear ensembles, with semi-sheer fabrics offering a balance between coverage and revealing silhouettes. The trend played out across a range of silhouettes, from floor-length cover-up dresses to fitted styles that layered effortlessly over swimwear. The overall effect was one of considered sensuality rather than pure exposure, with designers using fabric weight and construction to keep things refined.

Statement Hardware

Swimwear became jewelry-like this season. Gold rings, metallic connectors, sculptural accents, and decorative embellishments appeared throughout many collections, transforming simple bikinis into eye-catching runway looks. The hardware details added a luxurious touch while helping create bold cutout effects and unexpected silhouettes. It was a trend rooted in the idea that swimwear should feel as carefully considered as any other wardrobe category, with each detail earning its place.

Cutouts

Bold structural cutouts continued to dominate the swimwear conversation. A cutout one-piece showcased one of the most prominent trends seen throughout Miami Swim Week 2026, and the technique appeared repeatedly across one-pieces and bikinis alike. Whether geometric or organic in shape, cutouts were used to create visual interest and redefine silhouette, often working in tandem with hardware details to produce looks that felt sculptural and purposeful. HOLA!

The Side-Tie Bikini

One of the most noticeable trends throughout Miami Swim Week was the return of the side-tie bikini. Designers embraced the classic silhouette with ultra-thin strings, adjustable fits, and elongated ties that added movement and drama to otherwise minimal designs. The nostalgia factor was undeniable, but the execution felt thoroughly current, with updated colorways, refined fabrics, and considered proportions giving the familiar style a fresh sense of relevance. HOLA!

Celebrity-Driven Collections

One of the most visible highlights of Miami Swim Week 2026 was the growing influence of celebrity-driven fashion brands. Megan Thee Stallion generated significant attention when she presented her Hot Girl Summer swimwear collection, with her runway finale quickly becoming one of the most shared moments across social media platforms. The collection leaned into bold neons, ultra-metallics, high-cut hips, and sexy cutouts, bringing an unapologetic energy that resonated both on and off the runway.

RISE: A Platform for Emerging Talent

Beyond the main tent, a sharpened focus on emerging talent was underscored by the launch of RISE, a new platform dedicated to up-and-coming swimwear brands. Hosted at the historic Kimpton Surfcomber Hotel, the concept transformed the property’s Art Deco pool into a runway environment that felt distinctly in step with where modern fashion presentation is heading. It was one of the week’s most talked-about additions, offering a genuine alternative to the established show format and giving newer voices the kind of platform that can genuinely shift careers.

PARAISO Miami Swim Week 2026 delivered what it always promises: a clear-eyed look at where swimwear and resortwear are heading, wrapped in the particular energy that only Miami Beach can provide. The trends that emerged, from artisanal crochet to hardware-accented minimalism, speak to a market that is increasingly demanding both craftsmanship and intention from its warm-weather wardrobe.
