After more than a decade spent building an all-encompassing empire which has conquered and scaled the daunting worlds of business and fitness, Svetlozar Zurkov is looking forward to the opportunities which lie ahead for SVETNESS.
Sitting across from Svetlozar Zurkov in Downtown Miami, one thing becomes increasingly clear: Zurkov takes customer service seriously.
“If you can’t listen to your clients and their needs, forget it,” says Zurkov. “Being able to communicate openly, honestly, and diligently takes a lot of practice, but for the intensive path I’ve chosen, it’s an absolute necessity.”
Indeed, the extraordinary path which Zurkov has paved for himself using this very ethos has directly resulted in his current success as an emerging leader in the world of personal training, and as the trailblazing founder of his personal training service, SVETNESS. Emigrating to the United States from Bulgaria in 2007 with only a few hundred dollars in his pocket, Zurkov launched SVETNESS in February of 2012 with a vision of making the world a healthier place by bringing at-home fitness training to people’s doorstep, catapulting the company toward the likes of delivery services such as Uber and Postmates.
After becoming a certified personal trainer while living in Virginia, Zurkov witnessed a gap in the market for at-home, on-demand fitness training. Initially starting with three to four clients at a time, SVETNESS now boasts an impressive roster of over 900 clients across 25 states, scaling the company to become a successful nationwide enterprise.
As it stands, Zurkov already finds himself overseeing all SVETNESS operations, as well as fostering his young family, but now the CEO is tackling a new passion project: entrepreneurial consulting.
“Coming from Bulgaria with almost no business connections, I know what it’s like to feel overwhelmed by all of the challenges and opportunities,” says Zurkov. “All I knew was that I was going to succeed one way or another. I really feel that coaching the next generation of aspiring entrepreneurs—especially international entrepreneurs looking to work in the United States—is a true calling for me.”
From Europe to Miami, Zurkov’s dedication to the continuous evolution of SVETNESS is one which has yet to wane, and, rather, has taken on a new life as the fitness executive carries forward the next era of the personal training industry. “SVETNESS is expanding rapidly, and it’s been such a privilege to mold this dream of mine into a company which has surpassed all previous expectations,” says Zurkov.
After almost a decade following the launch of SVETNESS, Zurkov is looking back on his journey as he moves through the next phase of the company. “Being as client-focused and accessible as possible has always been my goal for SVETNESS, and we’re only getting started. I can’t wait to share what’s ahead.”
