Agnieszka Pestka is approaching art in an entirely new way. Her renowned vision has evolved over the years, and with the expansion of her perspective, she has captivated a growing audience of admirers. They look to her for her unique interpretation of the world. In this new season of life, she openly shares the positive transformations shaping her journey.
“I want to keep evolving and getting better in every area of my work,” the artist reflects with passion when asked about the latest ideas from her trailblazing mind. Pestka is not just a sculptor—she is a prolific curator of life.
Salome Apartment is part of her quest to share beauty and truth with the world. Here, visitors embark on a journey that leads them to a doorway swinging open onto art, design, and tranquility in the heart of Manhattan.
As the owner of this remarkable Chelsea residence, Pestka has shaped it into both a private sanctuary and an intimate showroom. The Polish artist uses the space as her home and as a living gallery, where exhibitions shift with the rhythm of her creativity.
“I think it’s my nature to always be growing and changing—always getting better. New York City is about moving forward and evolving as an artist,” she says. “I want my art involved in everything, from the spaces I surround myself with to even the start of my own gallery.”
The entire development is a phenomenal canvas for her to express herself—not just as an artist, but as a blossoming entrepreneur and curator.
“This has come with a lot of hard work,” she says with a sigh of relief and a smile. “It’s not something you just wake up one day and have handed to you. You have to take many strides to get here.”
She expresses gratitude for all she has achieved, carrying it with a well-deserved sense of pride. “It’s been an amazing journey. I’m very happy.”
With this complete renovation, she has created a haven for artistic expression in collaboration with Polish designer Julia Bimer, while the project was executed by Voytek Orent Design.
Inside, the apartment is both functional and deeply personal. As part of a small co-op of four buildings with private green spaces, it offers an intimate atmosphere. Restored original floors set the stage for a harmonious interior, where every element provides a warm backdrop for contemporary forms. The apartment is illuminated by Lumens lighting—ceiling lamps, spotlights, and floor lamps—ensuring each room is perfectly complemented.
The living room combines comfort with distinctive design. A white USM Modular cabinet contrasts with a vibrant orange B&B Italia sofa, while a velvet sofa bed by Restoration Hardware invites relaxation. A green emerald marble coffee table from HD Buttercup commands attention like a sculpture, while an elegant black CB2 TV stand emphasizes the modern character of the space.
The walls are adorned with Pestka’s works—a metal bas-relief of 10 zinc plates titled RTOIP and a delicate etching on rice paper that reads, She comes to me at night (and takes me in her arms).
In the corner, the stainless-steel sculpture Tojad catches the eye with its expressive form. Glass compositions from her Hocus Pocus: Witchcraft and Magic Objects series also find their place here.
In the bedroom, a custom-made bed is paired with a striking pendant light that casts a warm, diffused glow. A sleek CB2 mirror and a liquid metal-finished nightstand from Lulu and Georgia add subtle sophistication, while a stylish Kryptonite wall cabinet provides storage and a modern edge. Elegant glass doors bring lightness and a touch of luxury to the room.
These glass doors open into a fully custom-designed walk-in wardrobe, equipped with cabinets, shelves, and drawers that balance function with refined aesthetics. A window overlooking an ivy-covered brick wall adds charm and atmosphere. The walk-in closet also features a discreet office nook—perfect for working from home.
The bathroom, decorated in an elegant and slightly austere tone, features walls clad in architectural concrete, serving as a backdrop for a hand-carved marble sink and subtle fixtures. Stylish lighting and tailored cabinetry create the feel of a private spa while emphasizing functionality.
The kitchen blends maximum functionality with elegance, offering generous storage solutions and top-of-the-line equipment. Marble countertops lend a timeless air, while liquid metal-finished side cabinets add a distinctive designer touch. Appliances from Bertazzoni, Bosch, Forno, and Smeg further elevate the luxurious character of the space.
The neighborhood provides an equally inspiring backdrop. Brick townhouses, romantic architecture, and summer blossoms of white and yellow petals create a cinematic setting. Here, near the Hudson River, The High Line, and Chelsea Market, art and everyday life intertwine beautifully.
Whether an apartment or a sculpture, Pestka’s world radiates luminous bliss. Each stroke of her brush transforms reality in the most beautiful way.
Salome Apartment is located at 307 West 20th Street, New York, NY 10011.
Pestka’s work has been exhibited at Art Basel in Miami, in Key West, Florida, and in Poland, among other venues. She is currently preparing to open her own gallery—PESTKA Gallery—at 669 NW 28th Street, Allapattah, Miami, with its grand opening scheduled for February 19, 2025.
