When planning a trip with your friends, it can sometimes be challenging, especially when everyone has different interests and ideas of fun – compromises are often necessary. That said, one type of getaway that is almost always a hit is an adventure break. Adventure trips give everyone a chance to try something new, share exciting experiences, and create memories together.
An adventure trip can take many forms. It might focus on a single activity, like a hiking trip through scenic trails, or it could be a multi-activity adventure, where you and your friends get to try several experiences – kayaking, waterboarding, scuba diving, and more. The beauty of an adventure holiday is that you can tick a lot of boxes, and please the majority of people, making decision-making a lot easier when it comes to booking.
So, where to go for your adventure with your friends? Below, we look into three different types of adventures to help inspire you.
Hiking and walking trips
If your group loves exploring the outdoors on foot, a hiking or walking holiday is a great choice. There are so many different countries which you can visit, which have fantastic routes for you to enjoy. Take this trip on The Cumbria Way as an example. You’ll get to see scenic Lake District landscapes, discover historic market towns, whilst you wander through rolling green valleys, alongside tranquil lakes, and beneath rugged mountain peaks. You may have never thought of going on a hiking holiday before, but once you have been, it’s something we are sure you will want to do again.
Water-based breakaway
If you and your friends spend a lot of time in the water (or consider yourself water babies), then a water-based breakaway could be the adventure for you. Greece is known to be a beautiful destination where travellers can enjoy crystal clear waters and plenty of boat trips. Australia has the Great Barrier Reef, where you can snorkel or dive and see some majestic fish in the ocean. You also have Costa Rica, a paradise for thrill-seekers, offering everything from white-water rafting and surfing to waterfall canyoning in lush rainforests. In each of these destinations, there are plenty of group accommodation options, as well as suitable for most age groups.
Safari holiday
Something very different, which a lot of people haven’t done before, is a safari holiday. A safari gives you the chance to witness incredible wildlife up close, from lions and elephants to giraffes and zebras, all in their natural habitats. Destinations such as South Africa, Kenya, and Tanzania are some of the most popular, offering guided tours and lodges that cater to both families and groups of friends. It’s an experience which you will never forget and will be talking about for many years to come. You may not initially think of this when choosing a friend’s breakaway, but if you can, you won’t regret it.
When are you planning on going away with your friends, and what sort of adventures have you been on in the past? Will you be trying one of the suggestions above?
