What Online Casino Bonuses are Best for Beginners?

by Allen Brown
in Resource Guide

Online casino promotions encompass a wide range of components in the modern market. If you are a beginner, or you are only just finding your feet in online gambling, it can be dizzying trying to dissect 200 different bonuses, their terms and conditions, and which ones you should avoid.

It’s a constantly moving target; casinos frequently change their promotions and terms and conditions, so it’s crucial to understand what they mean. Today, we’re going to go through some of the most basic bonuses and promotions. These are ones that you will encounter often, but shouldn’t be too difficult to wrap your head around.

Free spins

Not only are free spins bonuses the most straightforward concept to grasp, but they’re usually the best ones for beginners. Venture into casino games only if you have a basic knowledge of how it works and how to manage your bankroll appropriately. The same applies to bonuses; it’s crucial to understand how they work, the terms involved, and what you’re signing up for.

Free spins are among a set of exclusive bonus promotions primarily offered to new customers who sign up for their site. They’ll refer to X amount of free spins, and will include a deposit amount, or no deposit at all. If you want to check out what a site has to offer, this is your best bet.

You get a good idea of their website, how their gaming library looks and operates, and, as long as the free spins aren’t specific to one game, you will be able to get a better understanding of everything on offer.

Once you find your feet, the more in-depth components to look for include:

  • wagering requirements
  • maximum bet amount
  • the expiry date
  • the amount you are allowed to cash out

But if you just want a few spins and to see what the site offers, free spins bonuses are usually the best place to begin. For evaluating these bonuses, consider using AI as a research tool, since it can be used for almost any task these days.

For example, it’s being used in creative fields for portrait enhancement. More casinos are using it for customer service, but generative AI is useful to players as well and can be utilized to cut through the terms and conditions of a casino bonus to give you a good rundown. We would recommend doing your own research, though — AI isn’t flawless, yet.

No deposit bonuses

No deposit bonuses can be fused with free spins, or they can act on their own. Ultimately, they’re one of the easiest to remember. You sign up, you don’t have to deposit, and then you will usually be provided with on-site credits to begin playing.

On rare occasions, you will be given real money that you can use on any table game, or in some cases, withdraw it to your bank. These types of bonuses are rare to encounter. I’ve only encountered three that I can recall, and I have been writing about casinos for several years.

That said, though, no deposit is no deposit; you don’t have to put any money down, and while you can only generally win on-site credits that you can’t withdraw, they’re a great way to see how a provider works and what their gaming mechanics look like before you decide to deposit real funds.

Matched deposits

Again, this one is pretty self-explanatory. Instead of a no deposit bonus, you will usually need to meet the minimum requirement to get a matched deposit, which is paid to you in either real money, free spins, or on-site credits. Often, it is a combination of the three.

Some matched deposits are easier to understand than others. For instance, a minimum deposit of $10 and a matched deposit of up to 100% on $100 — this means if you deposit $100, you will receive the same back in on-site credits, free spins, whatever it may be.

If you have used free spins and no deposit bonuses and are looking for a type of bonus that has a bit more depth to it, then matched deposits can provide you with a slightly broader insight into the mechanics of bonuses and how the terms and conditions work.

Refer-a-friend bonuses

In any profit-driven business, referrals and sales are the backbone of marketing. While they make up a small piece of the puzzle in casino gaming, they can still be used effectively. Many casinos will send e-mails to existing customers, providing them with referral codes that they can pass on to their friends to sign up.

Usually, a refer-a-friend bonus will stipulate that you both have to deposit a specific amount to receive said bonus. As we’ve already discussed with the other bonuses, referral bonuses can be paid out in various forms and may differ in quality.

Ideally, you want a bonus that offers you a good range of games, a long expiry date, and a high max cashout of around $50 to $100. But again, these are things you can pick up as you go along and gain more experience in the casino gaming world. For now, if you are simply looking for the best bonuses to start with, then these would be the four we’d recommend.

Summary

It doesn’t matter if you are somebody who usually places sports bets and you’re checking out casino gaming for the first time, or you are somebody who has never placed a bet before; you must ensure that you read up on any games you play. Even if it is a slot game or something with few rules to remember, knowledge is the foundation of any casino game. As is responsible gambling.

If you do not understand how important it is to adhere to responsible gambling and stay within your time and deposit limits, then you should equip yourself with this knowledge before checking out casino bonuses and looking at platforms where you can play.

While many of these bonuses will not ask you to put up cash upfront, and they can be a good inroad into how a live gaming environment works, we cannot stress how important it is to ensure you stay within suitable time and deposit limits, and never gamble with money you can afford to lose or chase losses.
