Last night, the Carolina Herrera Flagship on Madison Avenue was abuzz as guests gathered for the Wes Gordon/Carolina Herrera kick-off party for the Casita Maria Fiesta! Gala. The star of the evening was the dashing Wes Gordon, Creative Director of Carolina Herrera and this year’s Gala honoree. As Jacquline Weld Drake, Board Chair of Casita Maria, remarked, “Carolina Herrera is one of our earliest honorees and longest supporters. Honoring Wes Gordon celebrates both our past and our future, as well as the richness of Latin culture.”
Guests, including Steven M.L. Aronson, Candace Bushnell, Lady Liliana Cavendish, Amy Fine Collins, Susan Gutfreund, and William Ivey Long, mingled, sipped champagne, and explored the latest Carolina Herrera gowns and jewelry. Partial sales from the evening supported the Casita Maria Center for Arts & Education, New York City’s oldest Latin charity, which delivers top-quality arts education to over 1,000 students daily in the South Bronx.
Casita Maria is a cornerstone for the community, providing a safe space and enriching opportunities for youth in the Bronx, the nation’s poorest zip code. Its programs help students develop into well-rounded individuals ready to achieve their dreams.
Mark your calendars for October 21, 2024, when the Casita Maria 90th Anniversary Fiesta! Gala will be held at The Plaza Hotel. The event, chaired by Jacquline Weld Drake and HRH Prince Dimitri of Yugoslavia, will honor Wes Gordon, philanthropist Lucy Doughty, and gallery owners James J. Borynack and Adolfo Zaralegui of Wally Findlay Galleries International.
