Myriam Hendrickx became master distiller just one month after starting at Rutte Distillery after the owner died. She started from zero with unlabeled barrels and scrawled recipes with 100 years of history and took her experience from the dairy world to the spirits world.  Rutte’s primary spirits are Gin and Genever, located in the small story book town of Dordretcht located a 30 min boat ride away from Rotterdam, where cobblestones line the streets, men buy weekly flowers and chocolates for the women at the market, the town smells of fish and chips or cookies, or Rutte roasting nuts, depending on the time of the day. Today Rutte is under DeKuyper’s Royal Dutch Distillery family and remains producing at the intimate hands on creative process by Myriam and her team that first started in 1872. Â
Rutte Gin was chosen as the Best In Show gin at the Wine and Spirits Wholesalers of America Competition in 2015 as the quality is impeccable with no artificial flavoring or coloring; all coming from fresh fruits, herbs, and nuts. Rutte Gin and Genever also won Best Gin and Best Genever and listed among top ten Best New Spirit at Tales of the Cocktail 2016 in New Orleans.
