For instance, most would agree that it gives them a feeling of freedom, particularly freedom of terrain. You are not limited to highways, traffic lights or other traffic. You’re exploring places that a lot of people will never see. As such, there can be an incredible sense of freedom associated with it.

What You’ll Need
There is a lot of gear, as we have mentioned, that you are going to need to get started, so it’s a good idea to make sure that you are aware of these and that you are doing all you can to start gathering them together. First and most importantly, of course, there is the vehicle. It has to be something capable, a 4WD of some variety, although it doesn’t necessarily have to be a monster truck. But you will want it to be something that you feel genuinely comfortable taking off-road, as if it isn’t you are not going to get very far.
Beyond that, you’ll need your basic recovery gear. That includes tow straps, traction boards and a jack. With those three things, you are much more likely to be able to get out of pretty much any tricky spot your vehicle might get into. You may also want to make use of some kind of buddy system, because solo rescues can turn into survival stories on a dime, and having someone there to call on can literally save your life. Finally, a healthy respect for nature will work wonders too, as it will teach you to tread lightly to protect trails and wildlife.

It’s certainly something to think about and consider at least, and you might find that you are able to really make a world of difference to the kind of experience that you have.
