Representing the Legendary Home of Diamond’s largest high jewellery collection to date, Portraits of Nature was first presented during Paris Haute Couture week after over a year in its making.
Designed by the De Beers Design Studio, the collection is inspired by the kaleidoscope of light that reflects off of the wild creatures’ bodies, their striking colors and textures, that are a result of miscroscopic crystals that interact with light to create chromatic effects. The collection comprises five elegant sets inspired by different animals from Africa – The Greater Flamingo, Monarch Butterfly, Knysna Chameleon, Electric Cichlid, and Chapman’s Zebra – that highlight the tonalities of rare fancy colour diamonds, with both polished and rough diamonds selected to bring textural depth to each piece. With only one in every 10,000 natural diamonds classed as a fancy colour diamond, it has taken seven years to collect the diamonds present in this collection, making each piece truly exceptional.
