Three Things You Should Do Once Your Property Offer Has Been Accepted

Have you made an offer for a property and it’s been accepted? Congratulations, this is an exciting step and a sign of even more exciting things to come. Buying a property is a big achievement for anyone and is something a lot of people spend years trying to do.

Now that you have had an offer accepted, it’s time to start planning the move and getting a few things booked in and cogs turning. A lot of people will say it’s beneficial to reach out to moving companies to get quotes and potentially book one in (this way, you don’t miss out on your preferred option). It’s also worth speaking to your agent, like Bluefield Realty Group, to ask them for their recommendations.

To help get you started, here is our guide on three things you should do once your property offer has been accepted.

Look into moving companies

Booking a booking company as soon as possible often gives you the best price and means you won’t miss out on your preferred option. Try to reach out to a selection of providers to get some quotes; this way, you can compare them and negotiate a good rate. When researching, make sure you read their online reviews, as this is a good indication of how reputable and the service they offer. If they are on it, TrustPilot is often a good place to start.

Start decluttering your current home

Try to start decluttering as soon as you can, even before your offer has been accepted. Decluttering is not a fun job, but it needs doing and will stop you from bringing things you don’t need to your new home when the day arrives. Our advice would be to start room by room; this way, it’s not too overwhelming, and to ask a friend to help. Friends are great as they will be strict on you, helping you throw away things you may say you want to keep “just in case” but in reality don’t need.

Book a survey

Although the lender will carry out a basic valuation, it’s highly advisable to commission your own property survey for a more detailed assessment of the property’s condition. A survey can uncover potential issues such as structural problems, damp, roof damage, or outdated electrics. These issues that come up will hopefully not be too serious, but if they are, it gives you the opportunity to pull out. Or it gives you an insight into some of the costs that will follow if you are to go ahead with buying the property.

The sooner you start getting things planned and moving forward, the less stressful moving will be. Unfortunately, we can’t take all the stress of moving away into a new real estate, but some of these tips will help.

When is your move-in date, and what sort of property are you going to be moving into? Is this your first property, or have you bought before? What advice would you give to someone who has just had their offer accepted? Let us know in the comment box below. We look forward to hearing from you.
