The Hamptons’ summer calendar sparkled a little brighter this July as the Southampton Animal Shelter Foundation (SASF) celebrated its Sweet 16th Unconditional Love Gala, drawing a crowd of philanthropists, celebrities, and changemakers to an exquisite private estate on Ocean Road in Bridgehampton. The event raised over $700,000 in vital funds for animal rescue efforts—marking it as one of SASF’s most pivotal and impactful evenings to date.

A Night of Glamour and Purpose

The evening was co-hosted by power couple and comedians Hannah Berner and Des Bishop, setting a lighthearted yet heartfelt tone for a cause close to many. The Animal Welfare Honoree of the evening was Alison Eastwood, acclaimed actor, director, and founder of the Eastwood Ranch Foundation Animal Rescue, recognized for her lifelong commitment to the protection and rehabilitation of animals.

Another emotional high point was the Compassion to Action Award, presented by none other than Christie Brinkley to environmental advocates Jayni and Chevy Chase, in recognition of their steadfast dedication to animal rights.

High Spirits, High Stakes

The gala doubled as a celebration and a rallying cry, as SASF prepares for a temporary closure this fall to undertake a major facility renovation. With its mission more urgent than ever, guests enthusiastically supported a spirited live auction featuring rare art, luxury vacations, collector’s jewelry, and exclusive items—including a coveted “Bruce Wayne” Rolex GMT Master II wristwatch. The dance floor came alive with a performance by Soul System Orchestras, led by legendary drummer Rob Affuso of Skid Row fame.

A Community of Champions

Notable names in attendance included Chevy Chase, Christie Brinkley, Alison Eastwood, Jayni Chase, Cydney Chase, Jill Rappaport, Beth Stern, Luann de Lesseps, Bo Dietl, Alexa Ray Joel, Jean Shafiroff, Leesa Rowland, and Dr. Jennifer Jablow, among many others—each lending their voice and visibility to the shelter’s life-saving mission.

Legacy of Care and Second Chances

Founded 16 years ago after the closure of the town-run shelter, SASF has become a leader in no-kill animal rescue and rehabilitation across Long Island and beyond. From local adoptions to cross-country rescues from high-risk zones—including New York City, Georgia, and the Caribbean—the shelter provides comprehensive care: veterinary services, training, behavior enrichment, spay/neuter procedures, microchipping, and more.

As SASF continues to expand its reach and redefine animal welfare on the East End, the Unconditional Love Gala stands as both a symbol of what’s possible through generosity—and a celebration of second chances.
