100 Women in Finance to host Impact Investing Symposium in New York City

100 Women in Finance (“100WF”), a global finance industry network committed to empowering women in finance, will bring together impact investing leaders from across the industry at the Impact Investing Symposium on October 10th in New York City at etc.venues 360 Madison.

The Symposium will feature keynote speakers, panel discussions and “Table Talks” focused on key impact investing developments, best practices, analytics, implementation challenges and success stories, and more.

With the complex global issues we face today, delivering positive financial returns can no longer be the primary focus, and social, environmental, and human impact must be factored in. With these goals in mind, 100WF aims to spark discussions on innovation and opportunity that can shape the future of impact investing. Led by experts from across the industry, the event will tackle topics such as ESG data, climate, carbon markets, biodiversity, and reporting and policy. Featured speakers include:

  • Lisa Hall – Impact Chair, Apollo Global Management
  • Dr. Lucas Joppa — Chief Sustainability Officer & Senior Managing Director, Haveli Investments
  • Afsaneh Beschloss – Founder and CEO, RockCreek
  • Andrew Siwo – Director of Sustainable Investments and Climate Solutions, New York State Common Retirement Fund
  • Brooke Masters – US Financial Editor, Financial Times
  • Annette L. Nazareth – Chair, Integrity Council for the Voluntary Carbon Market
  • Debra D. Schwartz, Managing Director, Impact Investments, John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation
  • Bhakti Mirchandani, Managing Director, Responsible Investing, Trinity Church Wall Street
  • Michaela Edwards, Partner, Capricorn Investment Group

100WF recognizes the power and influence that women have in shaping the future of impact and sustainable investing. According to research from Simple, 61% of women between the ages of 30 and 40 choose their investments based on their social or environmental impact. While women make up half of the world’s population, they only manage approximately $72 trillion, or one-third of the world’s wealth. If women were to invest at the same rate as men, there would potentially be an additional $1.87 trillion dedicated to responsible investing. The Impact Investing Symposium will serve as a platform for industry leaders to convene and address the opportunities and challenges in this space.

Nicole Wiley, Chief Operating Officer of 100 Women in Finance, said “Women make up the majority of executive appointees in sustainability and as such hold immense power to drive positive change in the ever important and evolving world of impact investing. 100 Women in Finance is dedicated to the pursuit of a more sustainable future and as such we are honored and excited to host the Symposium.”
