How to Buy the Right Cat Tree

Your cat may need a cat tree if it has started to scratch the couch, climb your furniture, or search for a comfortable place to sit all the time.

But with so many styles and sizes, finding the right cat tree can be hard. This blog will tell you what to look for based on your income, the space you have, and your cat’s needs.

1. Consider Your Cat’s Age, Size, and Personality

The best places for cats that enjoy jumping and climbing are tall trees that have ramps and toys attached to them. Because of their advanced age, several cats may require lower perches and more comfortable locations to relax. Those with large cats require shelves that are both sturdy and wide.

When it comes to cats, some prefer to hide, while others prefer to be in the air. Pay close attention to how your cat navigates the house. This process allows you to select something that they will actually use.

2. Measure Your Space First

Make sure to inspect the location of the tree before purchasing it. Use a tape measure to find the maximum height and width that it can reach. You don’t want something that is excessively big, nor does it fit in the room, nor takes up too much space.

Most of the time, we recommend placing it in a corner. In addition to allowing the cat to lie down on both sides, it also provides space for other things.

3. Check for Stability and Safety

The movement of trees is a source of anxiety for cats. Check to see that the base and the posts are solid. It is possible for your cat to topple over if it has a weak frame and jumps or climbs swiftly. That is not an enjoyable activity, nor is it safe to do.

You should try pushing on the buying tree if you are going to be shopping in person. Read customer reviews before making any purchases online. Having your cat in a sturdy tree will make it feel secure and content.

4. Look for Multiple Features

Cats enjoy playing, napping, scratching, and hiding. There are many good things about trees. Look for one that has platforms, hammocks, hiding places, and scratching posts all in one.

It’s easier to use things that have more features. One cat could sleep while the other plays. The tree isn’t just a toy when it’s set up right; it’s a place to hang out all the time.

5. Choose Cat-Friendly Materials

It’s great to scratch with rough sisal rope. Carpet or fake fleece are both soft materials that are ideal for naps. If something feels slippery or tears easily, your cat might not want to touch it.

Look for cloth that is strong and has smooth edges. Cats don’t like the smell of cheap glue. Good materials last longer and feel better when your pet walks on them.

6. Think Long-Term Use

As cats get older, their tastes change. Find plants that will last a long time. A good pick works for both kitten zoomies and human nap times. Modifiable styles or add-ons are even more beneficial.

If you spend a little more now, you probably won’t have to buy replacements later. An old tree saves money, keeps cats happy, and works well as your life changes.

Invest in Something Safe, Fun, and Lasting

A good cat tree does more than just give your cat a place to climb. Every day, it gives your cat warmth, exercise, and fun. If you pick one that suits your cat’s personality and your home, they’ll love it for years.
