The Hamptons art and social scenes came together in style this past weekend as Irish painter Gerard Byrne was welcomed for his first solo exhibition in the Hamptons at the newly opened Slattery Gallery in Southampton Village.
The glittering afternoon reception, hosted by legendary society photographer Patrick McMullan, drew an impressive crowd of collectors, curators, philanthropists, and cultural tastemakers eager to celebrate Byrne’s luminous works and his arrival on the East End stage.
On view through Monday, October 13, 2025, the exhibition presents Byrne’s evocative landscapes and figurative works, a vivid blend of modern impressionism and contemporary realism. McMullan described the collection as “a luminous exploration of light, form, and memory” which resonated deeply with the hushed admiration of guests as they mingled in the sun-filled gallery.
McMullan, whose lens has defined New York society for decades, noted that hosting Byrne’s U.S. debut was a natural extension of his passion for art and the Hamptons cultural community. The Slattery Gallery, founded by John Slattery, provided the perfect stage with its intimate layout and thoughtful curation directed by veteran gallerist Damien Roman.
Notable attendees included John Slattery, Gerard Byrne, Patrick McMullan, Agata Byrne, Damien Roman, Jean Shafiroff, Leesa Rowland, Melanie Wambold, Nancy Stone, Leila Pinto, Ron Burkhardt, Sophie Rose Slattery, Nicole Salmasi, Lucia Hwong Gordon, James Byrnes, and Noreen Donovan.
The vibrant crowd added to the celebratory atmosphere, underscoring the Hamptons’ position as both a summer playground and a serious cultural destination.
Located at 30A Jobs Lane, Southampton Village, the Slattery Gallery specializes in Irish and American Contemporary Art alongside exceptional Post-War and Modern masterworks. Founded by John Slattery, a native of Ireland and new Southampton resident, the gallery complements its contemporary program with carefully sourced secondary market treasures curated by Damien Roman.
