Elon Musk Calls on Warren Buffett to Invest in Tesla: An “Obvious Move” Says CEO

Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla, urges investing guru Warren Buffett to consider purchasing shares in Tesla, emphasizing the strategic value of such an investment.

Elon Musk Calls on Warren Buffett:

Investing maestro Warren Buffett has long been a coveted figure among Tesla enthusiasts, with many seeing his endorsement as the ultimate validation for the electric vehicle (EV) company. Musk’s recent call for Buffett to invest in Tesla underscores the significance of such a move.

In a recent Twitter exchange, Musk responded affirmatively to a suggestion by Galileo Russell, a former non-executive director of a defunct EV startup, urging Buffett to consider buying Tesla shares. Musk’s tweet read, “He should take a position in Tesla. It’s an obvious move.”

This appeal from Musk marks a notable shift, considering past hesitations from Buffett’s close associate, Charlie Munger. Musk revealed that Munger had the opportunity to invest in Tesla back in 2008, but discussions didn’t progress further. With Munger’s passing, some speculate that the door may now be open for Berkshire Hathaway to invest in Tesla.

However, Buffett is renowned for his cautious investment approach, typically favoring companies with strong brands or identifying opportunities during times of crisis. Tesla’s current valuation, coupled with its CEO’s unconventional strategies, may pose challenges in enticing Buffett to invest.

Tesla’s recent performance reflects a challenging landscape for the EV manufacturer. Global sales saw a decline in the first quarter, marking the first year-on-year decrease since the onset of the pandemic. In Germany, a significant market for Tesla, car registrations dropped by a third compared to the previous year, signaling potential challenges ahead.

Despite these hurdles, Musk remains optimistic about Tesla’s future, emphasizing upcoming ventures such as robotaxis and robotics. However, uncertainties loom over the company’s trajectory, raising questions about its appeal to investors like Buffett, known for their preference for stable and undervalued assets.

As Musk continues to advocate for Tesla’s potential, the response from Buffett and Berkshire Hathaway remains uncertain. Whether Tesla can secure the endorsement of the legendary investor remains a topic of intrigue in the financial world. Stay tuned for updates on this evolving story.
