Metaverse Live Streaming Company Condense Continues to Attract Funding

Condense is shaping up to be one of the UK’s most exciting tech startups focussing on metaverse applications. Formed in Bristol, the company has continued to develop and showcase its ability to bring live performers to the digital space, and, in doing so, has attracted a lot of interest from investors and funding programs. The company looks to deliver the next phase of live-streaming online. While not all current live-streaming products are made equal and vary greatly in their levels of interaction and immersion, what Condense is cooking up looks to make metaverse shows all the more viable and, potentially, accessible to millions of people.

Investing in an Even Greater Live-Streamed Experience

Live-streaming has come a long way since the days of trying to see live sports over the internet. Platforms like Twitch have made it mainstream, allowing people to live-stream their activities while interacting with audiences via a live chat. Taking the technology further, though, is a different form of entertainment. At some of the most popular PayPal casinos, live casino games are abundant on their websites. These games live stream a real casino table or game show to the user. From there, thanks to the UI and some additional tech in the studio, players can bet and see their winnings land in real-time while the human croupier runs the game and chats away. For immersion and interactivity, this is the most advanced form of mainstream live-streaming. Condense want to take it further, and get this level of immersion in the metaverse and in 3D. Their efforts have attracted many investors. Their seed round in 2022 raised £4.5 million, attracting angel investors like Tom Blomfield of Monza. Since then, Condense have received an additional £500,000 for BBC Ventures, which was the BBC’s investing arm’s first investment since being founded in 2022, earlier this year. They were also awarded a piece of a £12 million funding program for partaking in the CR&D 2 program by MyWorld. So, many are excited about the company.

Taking Live Streaming to the Next Level

Condense is a 3D video streaming platform. Using specialised cameras and scanning technology, Condense can capture artists as they perform and present it all on a virtual stage or via their dedicated app. It creates an immersive live show in which users feel as though they’re right there in the room with the performer. As a part of the BBC’s investment, Condense will help to establish the New Music Portal, which is a virtual venue aimed at bringing new audiences to their best performances. The shows differ from the kind of virtual live performances we’ve seen in prior metaverse environments by being truly live-streamed. Others that have come before have used pre-made 3D animations of the artists. With Condense, the artist performs in their studio – as it stands – and they’re streamed live into the virtual environment or to the app. Still, these performances from Condense are 3D-rendered. Given the potential of the metaverse, the popularity of live-streaming, and what the accomplishment would mean for the accessibility of live shows, it’s not a surprise that entities are so willing to pump cash into Condense.
